The radio access network (RAN) optimization solutions market

Key dynamics within this industry are increasingly heterogeneous and complex in the environment where we progressively hear about strategic partnerships, consolidations, reduced CAPEX and OPEX, to name a few.

From traditional optimization solutions, such as RF and KPI optimization and performance management, to more automated solutions, such as automatic cell planning and self-organizing network, ABI Research forecasts the growth of new RAN optimization solutions in developing markets to grow at a faster rate. The firm also anticipates that the market will grow to reach $6.3 billion in 2020.

Key vendors include Ericsson, Nokia Networks, Alcatel-Lucent and Cisco; with emerging vendors including Huawei and ZTE will who are gaining ground. Smart, automatic network optimization solutions help mobile operators reduce CAPEX and OPEX.

The introduction of small cells, picocells and femtocells, as well as distribution antenna system and C-RAN, leaves MNOs with an increasingly dynamic and complex heterogeneous network,” says Lian Jye Su, Research Analyst at ABI Research.
