We are still at the early stage when it comes to WiGig technology adoption. In fact, for asset of reasons including: a lack of compelling use cases and the need for development of new chip-sets to lower cost and drive usage; the market has been slow to develop.
However, the signs are very positive. One can then observe that, much
development work has been done in the last few years by OEMs and chip vendors. WiGig products have been on the market
since 2013 (e.g. Dell Docking station).
For those who are unfamiliar, WiGig as an emerging and promising Wi-Fi standards, brings up high speed
data rates up to 7 Gbps operating in the 60 GHz band.
According to Research and Markets, this industry is on an interesting curve in
terms of growth, volume shipments, revenues, product type, component variation
and adoption.
