Android and iOS ecosystems: the OSs crash-rate, fragmentation and how quickly a device was updated

We have captured for you the Apteligent most recent data report, “AndroidManufacturer Edition,” that reviews various Android Manufacturers and highlights the best devices to purchase this holiday season based on their history of OS update speeds and crash rates.

The report also reveals device fragmentation by usage as well as a regional breakdown of that fragmentation. 

According to this report, Motorola pushes Android updates faster than other Manufacturers. 

In effect key findings from the report reveal that:
  • Motorola pushes out Android updates faster than any other manufacturer
  • For the largest apps, Sony devices have the lowest overall crash rate, with Motorola following
  • Russia has the worst Android device fragmentation in the world: it takes 230 devices to reach the benchmark (90 percent of device usage).
  • Based on the data collected in July 2016, Android purchases should either be the upcoming Nexus devices by HTC or a Motorola device this holiday season.
