The recently passed U.S. Cybersecurity Information Sharing Act of 2015 and IT Professionals

We live henceforth in a connected world where cyberthreats are increasingly various, aggressive and sophisticated.

This daunting reality is fueling the emergence of strong and exciting security laws and compliance across the world. The recently passed U.S. Cybersecurity Information Sharing Act of 2015 for example is scaring and enchanting many within the IT industry.

One can then observe that, according to ISACA Survey: 63% of IT Professionals Are against Governments Having Backdoor Access to Encrypted Information Systems.

Nearly three-quarters of IT and cybersecurity professionals are in favor of the US Cybersecurity Act of 2015, but fewer than half say their organizations would voluntarily share cyberthreat information as outlined in the Act.
(59%) feel that privacy is being compromised in an effort to implement stronger cybersecurity laws.

ISACA’s January 2016 Cybersecurity Snapshot shows that nearly three-quarters (72%) of US respondents say they are in favor of the U.S. Cybersecurity Information Sharing Act of 2015, which encourages cyberthreat information sharing between the government and the private sector.

In fact, it is exciting to see that, the professionals on the front lines of the cyberthreat battle recognize the value of information-sharing among consumers, businesses and government, but also know the challenges associated with doing so.

Strong public-private collaboration and ongoing knowledge-sharing are a game changer when it comes to combat and mitigate cybercriminals.
